Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is generally better suited for machining precision parts than solid silicone rubber for the following main reasons:

1. Better flow and molding capabilities
Liquid: LSR is in liquid form when processed, so it can easily flow into complex molds or cavities, which allows it to fill the mold more completely and accurately, ensuring consistent shape and size of the final part.
Solid silicone: In contrast, solid silicone rubber must be machined, which usually involves more complex molding, extrusion or cutting processes and may not be able to capture complex details as accurately as LSR.
2. Finer details and complex geometries
LSR: Because it flows smoothly during the injection molding process, LSR can be formed into parts with sharp edges, fine details and complex geometries without additional post-processing.
Solid silicone: Solid silicone rubber is harder and may not be able to fill the mold effectively.
3. Lower shrinkage and more stable performance
LSR: LSR has a low shrinkage rate during the curing process, which helps improve the dimensional stability and precision of the final part.
Solid silicone: Solid silicone generally shrinks more, and the additional shrinkage may make it difficult to achieve the same level of precision without additional steps.

Solid Silicone: Solid silicone rubber typically requires longer cure times or higher temperatures, which slows the production process and can lead to more variation in part quality.

LSR: Due to its liquid properties, LSR can be mixed and processed in large batches with consistent performance, resulting in consistent mechanical properties, elasticity, and overall performance of precision parts.
Solid Silicone: Solid silicone typically requires additional curing agents or cross-linking processes, which can cause performance variations and affect the overall precision of the part.
