Silicone casting operation and key points
1. Select the pouring method
Gravity pouring: suitable for simple molds, pour the silicone slowly along the mold wall, use gravity to fill the cavity, suitable for manual operation.
Pressure pouring: apply 0.1-0.5MPa pressure through a pressure tank or injection equipment to push the silicone to quickly fill the complex structure, reduce bubbles, and is suitable for industrial production.
Vacuum pouring: pouring in a vacuum environment (such as a vacuum box) to further reduce the residual bubbles, often used for high-precision molds or electronic potting.
2. Key operation points
Control the flow rate: pour or inject slowly to avoid silicone impacting the bottom of the mold to produce turbulence and bubbles.
Exhaust treatment: complex molds need to reserve exhaust holes at the highest point, or tap the outer wall of the mold during the pouring process to help bubbles escape.
Pour in stages: for multi-layer structures or inserts (such as embedded metal parts, electronic components), the bottom layer can be poured first, and then the upper layer can be poured after curing to ensure a firm bond.
