How to add silicone diluent to the dispensing machine?
1. Confirm the compatibility of the diluent
Check the material: Make sure the diluent (such as toluene, xylene, hexane, etc.) matches the type of silicone (such as condensation type and addition type silicone require corresponding special diluents) to avoid using incompatible solvents to cause abnormal silicone curing or equipment corrosion.
Reference instructions: Check the technical data sheet (MSDS) of silicone and diluent to confirm the dilution ratio (usually 5%~15% is recommended, excessive amount may affect the performance of silicone).
2. Prepare tools and protection
Tools: electronic scale (accuracy 0.1g), mixing cup, dust-free cloth, disposable gloves, goggles.
Protection: The operation must be carried out in a well-ventilated environment, wear solvent-resistant gloves and goggles to avoid diluent volatilization and inhalation or contact with the skin.
2. Steps for adding diluent
1. Silicone pretreatment (if unopened)
Check the status: Confirm that the silicone is not cured or stratified. If there is agglomeration, filter it first or consult the supplier.
Preheating and softening: In winter, the silicone barrel can be placed in a 30~40℃ constant temperature box for 30 minutes to preheat for subsequent mixing.
2. Prepare the diluted mixture
Step 1: Weighing the silicone
Take out the silicone to be diluted from the dispensing machine barrel (if the barrel is already installed on the equipment, you can first discharge part of it into the mixing cup), and weigh and record the weight with an electronic scale (such as 100g).
Step 2: Add diluent
Calculate the amount of diluent according to the proportion (such as 100g silicone plus 10g diluent, the proportion is 10%), slowly pour it into the mixing cup, and stir it gently with a stirring rod while pouring to avoid bubbles.
Step 3: Mix thoroughly
Use an electric stirrer to stir at 100~200 rpm for 3~5 minutes until the mixture is uniform and has no stratification. If there are many bubbles, let it stand for 5~10 minutes to defoam or use a vacuum degassing machine for processing.
3. Add the mixed liquid to the dispenser
Empty/clean the barrel (optional): If you change the silicone type or diluent, wipe the inner wall of the barrel and the piston with alcohol to prevent residual impurities from affecting curing.
Slowly pour the mixed liquid: Pour the diluted silicone through the top opening of the barrel, and make sure that the liquid level does not exceed 80% of the barrel capacity to prevent overflow during stirring or dispensing.
Exhaust air: After installing the barrel, turn on the "empty" function of the dispenser to let the silicone flow through the pipe and needle to exhaust the internal air and avoid empty shots during dispensing.
