Can injection silicone and casting silicone be used interchangeably?
It is generally not recommended to mix injection silicone and casting silicone for the following reasons:
Different curing systems: Injection silicone and casting silicone may use different curing systems, such as addition silicone and condensation silicone. When silicones with different curing systems are mixed, chemical reactions may occur, resulting in the silicone not being able to cure normally, or the performance after curing being seriously reduced.
Different performance requirements: The two have differences in mechanical properties, curing characteristics, etc., and mixing may not meet the performance requirements of the product. For example, mixing fast-curing injection silicone with slow-curing casting silicone may affect the overall curing time and curing effect, making the product quality unstable.
Impurity impact: Different types of silicone may introduce different impurities or additives during the production process. After these substances are mixed with each other, they may have a negative impact on the performance of the silicone, such as reducing the strength and aging resistance of the silicone.
