What thickness of silicone is suitable for printing with a screen printing oval machine?
There is no absolute fixed standard for the thickness of silicone that can be printed by a silk-screen elliptical machine. It is usually around 0.1 mm to 1 mm, and will be affected by the following factors:
Screen mesh: Generally speaking, the lower the screen mesh, the larger the mesh, the more silicone that can pass through, and the printed silicone thickness is relatively thick. For example, a 60-100 mesh screen can print a silicone thickness of about 0.3 mm to 1 mm; a 100-150 mesh screen may print a silicone thickness of 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm.
Substrate material: If the surface of the substrate is rough and loose, such as some coarse woven fabrics, in order to ensure the fullness and covering power of the pattern, it may be necessary to print thicker silicone, generally 0.5 mm - 1 mm; if the surface of the substrate is smooth, such as plastic, metal, etc., the thickness of the silicone can be relatively thin, 0.1 mm - 0.3 mm can achieve a better printing effect.
Printing pattern requirements: For patterns that need to highlight the three-dimensional sense or have special texture requirements, it may be necessary to print thicker silicone, such as making three-dimensional trademarks, anti-slip patterns, etc., the thickness may be 0.5 mm - 1 mm or even thicker; and for some simple lines, text patterns, a silicone thickness of 0.1 mm - 0.3 mm can usually meet the requirements of clarity and visual effects.
Silicone properties: The rheological properties of silicone have a greater impact on printing thickness. Silicone with high viscosity and low fluidity will have a relatively thin printing thickness under the same printing conditions, which may be 0.1 mm - 0.3 mm; while silicone with moderate viscosity and good fluidity can better fill the mesh and transfer to the substrate, and can be printed with a thickness of 0.3 mm - 1 mm.
