What's the EU REACH Regulation test standards for D4, D5, and D6 in silicone?
Restriction requirements: On May 17, 2024, the European Union issued (EU) 2024/1328 to revise item 70 in the list of restricted substances in Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation, stipulating that from June 6, 2026, when the concentration of D4, D5, and D6 in a substance is equal to or greater than 0.1% (by mass), it shall not be placed on the market as a substance itself, a component of other substances, or a mixture, but there are many exemptions.
Exemptions: including industrial uses such as monomers for the production of silicone polymers and intermediates for the production of other silicon substances; used in specific medical devices, drugs, veterinary drugs, etc.; in some specific products or processes, such as bonding, sealing, gluing and casting mixtures with a concentration of D4, D5 or D6 equal to or less than 1%, etc.
