What is silicone oil?
Silicone oil is an organic silicon compound that is widely used in many fields such as industrial production and daily life.
1. Definition and chemical structure
Silicone oil usually refers to polysiloxane compounds that contain silicon-oxygen bonds (Si-O) in the molecule and have a chain structure. Its general formula can be roughly expressed as [(CH₃)₂SiO]ₙ (n is the degree of polymerization, and different values correspond to silicone oils of different molecular weights).

Physical properties:
Appearance and state: Generally a colorless, odorless, transparent oily liquid with different viscosity specifications available
Solubility: Silicone oil has good hydrophobicity and is difficult to dissolve in water, but can be miscible with many organic solvents (such as benzene, toluene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, etc.)
Volatility and stability: It has low volatility and is relatively stable at room temperature and pressure, and is not easy to decompose or deteriorate
