What is electric power silicone?
Main types:
Room temperature vulcanization type: vulcanization (curing) reaction can occur at room temperature, easy to use, no special heating equipment is required, and can be constructed on site. According to the vulcanization mechanism, it can be divided into condensation type and addition type. The condensation type will produce small molecular by-products during the curing process, while the addition type has no by-products and has better electrical properties and aging resistance.
High temperature vulcanization type: It needs to be vulcanized and formed quickly at a higher temperature (generally above 150°C). After forming, it has high strength and excellent comprehensive performance. It is often used to manufacture some power silicone products with complex shapes and high dimensional accuracy requirements.
Performance characteristics:
Excellent electrical insulation performance: It has high dielectric strength and volume resistivity, can effectively prevent current from passing through, ensure the insulation safety of power equipment, and can maintain good insulation performance even in harsh environments such as humidity and dirt.
Good weather resistance: It is not easy to age, crack and deform when exposed to sunlight, wind and rain, high and low temperature and other natural environments outdoors for a long time. It can effectively resist the erosion of ultraviolet rays, ozone, etc., has a long service life, and can adapt to various complex climatic conditions.
High and low temperature resistance: It can maintain good elasticity and physical properties in a wide temperature range (generally -50℃ to 200℃), and will not become hard, brittle or soft due to temperature changes, ensuring the normal operation of power equipment in different seasons and ambient temperatures.
Hydrophobicity: The surface has good hydrophobicity, and water droplets roll on its surface in a spherical shape and are not easy to adhere to. It can effectively prevent moisture from forming a continuous water film on the surface, reducing the leakage current on the surface of the equipment and improving the anti-pollution flashover ability of electrical equipment.
Good flexibility and sealing: It can well fill and seal the gaps and holes of power equipment to prevent dust, moisture, small animals, etc. from entering the interior of the equipment. At the same time, it has a certain buffering effect on the vibration and impact of the equipment, protecting the electrical components inside the equipment.
Application areas:
Insulators: In the manufacture of composite insulators, power silicone is used as a sheath and shed material to improve the anti-pollution flashover performance and mechanical strength of the insulator and extend its service life. It is also commonly used for surface coating of traditional porcelain insulators and glass insulators to enhance their hydrophobicity and anti-pollution properties.
Cable accessories: used for sealing and insulation of cable accessories such as cable terminals and intermediate joints, ensuring the electrical insulation and waterproof performance of cable connections, and preventing cable failures due to moisture and water ingress.
Electrical switchgear: seals the gaps and holes of switchgear, circuit breakers and other electrical switchgear to prevent dust and moisture from invading, while also playing the role of insulation and shockproof, improving the reliability and safety of the equipment.
Transformer: used in some parts of the transformer, such as as a sealing gasket material, to ensure the sealing of the transformer, prevent transformer oil leakage, and have certain insulation properties.
