Hardness: This is an indicator of the ability of silicone to resist external forces pressing into its surface. It is often measured by a Shore durometer and expressed in Shore A hardness. Moderate hardness can ensure that the product is both soft and has a certain degree of stiffness.
Tensile strength: refers to the maximum stress value reached by the silicone material from the beginning to the time of fracture during the stretching process, in MPa. Silicone with high elongation at break can still not break after a large degree of deformation. Common textile silicone elongation at break is between 200% and 800%. For example, silicone used in some elastic fabrics needs to have a higher elongation at break to adapt to the stretching and deformation of the fabric.
Tear strength: It indicates the ability of silicone to resist tearing, and the unit is kN/m. In textile applications, silicone may be rubbed and pulled by various sharp objects. A higher tear strength ensures that silicone will not tear easily when encountering these situations. For example, silicone used to make outdoor textile coatings generally requires a tear strength of 10-30kN/m or more.
