The types of curing agents for liquid silicone

There are many types of curing agents for liquid silicone. The curing agents that have been used mainly include sulfur, selenium, tellurium, sulfur-containing compounds, metal oxides, peroxides, resins, quinones and amines. Among them, some common types of liquid silicone curing agents include:

1. Peroxide curing agent: This type of curing agent plays a role in initiating free radical polymerization in liquid silicone, thereby achieving the curing of silicone. Peroxide curing agents usually have high activity and can achieve rapid curing at lower temperatures.
2. Addition platinum curing agent: This curing agent is mainly suitable for addition-type liquid silicone. Through the catalytic action of platinum metal, the silicon-hydrogen bonds in liquid silicone react with vinyl-containing compounds to cure into a solid. Addition platinum curing agents have the advantages of fast curing speed, low curing temperature, and high transparency of the cured product.
3. Condensation-type two-component silicone rubber (RTV-2) crosslinking agent: This type of curing agent is a type of silicone curing agent, which cures liquid silicone through a condensation reaction. The polycondensation type two-component silicone rubber crosslinker can react with the functional groups in the liquid silicone to form a crosslinked network structure, thereby giving the silicone good physical and chemical properties.
4. Other specific types of curing agents: In addition to the common curing agents mentioned above, there are some specific types of curing agents, such as epoxy silane type crosslinker XR-500, etc. These curing agents usually have specific application scenarios and performance characteristics, and can be selected according to actual needs.
When selecting a liquid silicone curing agent, factors such as the type of silicone, application environment, curing conditions, and required performance need to be considered. At the same time, different curing agents may have different effects on the curing speed, curing temperature, and performance of the cured product of the silicone. Therefore, when selecting and using a curing agent, it is recommended to consult a professional silicone material supplier or manufacturer for more specific advice and guidance.
