The effect of adding too much silicone pigment on product quality

Color:
Color is too dark and distorted: the product color will become too strong and deep, which will deviate greatly from the expected design color and fail to present the soft, elegant or accurate color effect that was originally intended. For example, if you originally wanted to make a light blue silicone product, it may become dark blue or even close to black due to excessive addition of pigment, resulting in the product appearance not meeting the requirements, affecting the brand image and the aesthetics of the product.

Uneven color: Too much pigment is difficult to achieve complete and uniform dispersion in silicone, and local pigment accumulation is prone to occur, forming color spots and color lines on the surface or inside of the product, especially on large-area or thicker silicone products, which makes the overall color consistency of the product poor and reduces the appearance quality.

Physical properties:
Reducing the hardness of silicone:

Excessive addition of pigment may change the original hardness characteristics of silicone, making the silicone too soft. For some silicone products that need to have a certain support and resilience, such as silicone buttons, silicone seals, etc., being too soft will cause them to not function properly. The buttons may not bounce back after being pressed, or the seals may not be effectively sealed.

Affecting the curing speed and effect:

Some pigment ingredients may interfere with the curing reaction of silicone. If too much is added, the curing time of silicone will be prolonged, and may even lead to incomplete curing, affecting the strength and stability of the product, resulting in sticky surface and loose internal structure, which reduces the durability and service life of the product.

Reduce toughness and elasticity:

Excessive pigment will destroy the molecular structure of silicone and the internal cross-linking network, resulting in reduced toughness and elasticity of the product, which is prone to breakage and damage during use. If the toughness of products such as silicone straps and silicone toys is insufficient, they are easily damaged and cannot meet normal use requirements.
