Silicone anti-slip design on glasses
Silicone is widely used in the anti-slip design of glasses due to its excellent flexibility, good friction and comfort.
1. Nose pads
One-piece silicone nose pads: Many glasses directly use one-piece silicone nose pads. This nose pad is closely connected to the front beam of the frame. Its design is based on the physiological curve of the human nose bridge and can perfectly fit the shape of the nose bridge of different individuals. The softness of silicone itself can evenly disperse the pressure of the glasses on the nose bridge. At the same time, the friction generated when the silicone surface contacts the skin effectively prevents the glasses from sliding back and forth or sliding down on the nose bridge. For example, some fashionable plate glasses often adopt this design, which not only ensures beauty, but also takes into account anti-slip and comfort.
Removable and adjustable silicone nose pads: Some high-end or professional glasses styles are equipped with removable and adjustable silicone nose pads. This nose pad is fixed to the frame by tiny screws or buckles. The optician or user can flexibly adjust the angle and spacing of the nose pad according to the height, width and other characteristics of the wearer's nose bridge. Due to the good plasticity of silicone, the adjusted nose pads can better fit the bridge of the nose, further enhance the anti-slip effect, and improve the comfort of wearing.
2. Temple part
Silicone sleeve at the end of the temple: Some glasses will install silicone sleeves at the end of the temple. This silicone sleeve is usually made separately and put on the temple. It has a certain elastic contraction inside and can tightly wrap the temple. The silicone sleeve contacts the back of the ear and the side of the head. The anti-slip properties of silicone are used to increase the friction between the temple and the skin, preventing the glasses from sliding back due to head shaking or sweating during wearing. For example, some sports glasses will use this silicone sleeve design at the end of the temple to adapt to the intense movements during exercise to ensure the stability of the glasses during exercise.
Silicone anti-slip strip on the inside of the temple: On the inside of the temple, along the edge that contacts the face, a continuous silicone anti-slip strip is designed. This anti-slip strip can increase the contact friction between the temple and the facial skin, making the glasses more stable when worn. Moreover, the design of the silicone anti-slip strip will not affect the overall appearance of the temples and the wearing comfort. It plays an anti-slip role in a hidden and effective way, and is commonly seen in some business or daily glasses styles.
