The following problems and solutions may occur during the use of the screen printing silicone middle layer:
1. Poor adhesion
Reason:
The surface of the substrate is not clean or has impurities such as oil, dust, etc.
The silicone middle layer does not match the ink or substrate.
Incomplete curing.
Solution:
Ensure that the surface of the substrate is clean. You can use an appropriate detergent to clean it and then dry it.
Check the compatibility of the silicone middle layer, ink and substrate, and select the appropriate material. You can consult the supplier or conduct a small sample test.
Check whether the curing conditions, such as temperature, time, etc. meet the requirements. Ensure that the curing is complete, and the curing time can be appropriately extended or the curing temperature can be increased.
2. Bubbles appear
Reason:
Uneven stirring, air is contained in the silicone middle layer.
The speed is too fast during the screen printing process, bringing in air.
There is moisture or volatile substances on the surface of the substrate.
Solution:
When mixing the silicone middle layer, stir it thoroughly and evenly. Vacuum stirring can be used to remove bubbles.
Adjust the screen printing speed and pressure to avoid too fast operation to bring in air.
Make sure the surface of the substrate is dry and remove moisture and volatile substances. Preheating or using a desiccant can be performed.
3. Poor leveling
Reason:
The viscosity of the silicone intermediate layer is not appropriate.
The mesh count of the screen printing screen is too high or too low.
The screen printing environment temperature is too low.
Solution:
Adjust the viscosity of the silicone intermediate layer according to the actual situation. You can add an appropriate amount of diluent, but be careful not to affect its performance.
Choose a screen printing screen with a suitable mesh count, which is generally determined by the fineness of the pattern and the fluidity of the silicone intermediate layer.
Increase the screen printing environment temperature, or use a heating device to preheat the silicone intermediate layer to improve its leveling.
4. Uneven color
Reason:
The silicone intermediate layer is not mixed evenly with the ink.
The scraper pressure is uneven during the screen printing process.
The screen is blocked or damaged.
Solution:
When mixing the silicone intermediate layer and ink, stir them thoroughly to ensure consistent colors.
Adjust the scraper pressure so that it scrapes across the screen evenly. A pressure gauge can be used for detection and adjustment.
Check if the screen is blocked or damaged, and clean or replace it in time.
5. Drying time is too long
Reason:
Improper curing conditions, such as too low temperature and too high humidity.
The curing agent content in the formula of the silicone interlayer is insufficient.
Solution:
Adjust the curing conditions, increase the temperature and reduce the humidity to speed up the drying process. You can use drying equipment or dry in a well-ventilated environment.
Check the formula of the silicone interlayer to ensure that the curing agent content meets the requirements. If necessary, you can increase the amount of curing agent appropriately, but be careful not to overdose to avoid affecting performance.
