The silicone molding process in the production of catheters is a complex and delicate process. The following is a detailed introduction to the process:

1. Material preparation
Silicone material: Select medical grade silicone as the raw material to ensure the biocompatibility and durability of the product. Silicone materials usually use silicone polymers as the main raw materials and are synthesized into silicone rubber through special vulcanization.
2. Molding equipment
Liquid silicone injection molding machine: used to make the cavity head and balloon of the catheter. The equipment usually uses a direct pressure piston injection unit and an integrated self-developed silicone feeding system to ensure the stability of the injection amount.
Silicone tube extruder: used to extrude the tube body of the catheter. Through the precise extrusion process, the uniformity of the tube body and the width of the inner diameter can be ensured.
3. Molding process steps
Cavity head and balloon molding:
Inject liquid silicone into the mold of the liquid silicone injection molding machine.
Through heating and pressurization, the silicone is cured and molded in the mold to form the cavity head and balloon of the catheter.
Tube body extrusion:
The silicone material is fed into the silicone tube extruder.
Through a precise extrusion process, the silicone material is extruded into the shape of a tube.
Subsequent processing:
Punch the molded cavity head, balloon and tube body for connection and drainage.
Bond the balloon to one end of the tube body to ensure a firm connection.
Install a one-way valve or other necessary accessories at the other end of the tube body.
Quality inspection:
Test the appearance, size, physical and mechanical properties and biocompatibility of the finished product.
Ensure that the product meets relevant standards and requirements.
4. Special process treatment
In order to meet the needs of different patients, silicone catheters can also be specially processed during the molding process, such as:

Hydrophilic lubricating coating treatment: A layer of hydrophilic lubricating coating is applied to the surface of the catheter to reduce the friction of the catheter and improve the comfort of the patient.
Antibacterial treatment: Add antibacterial ingredients to the surface of the catheter to inhibit the growth of bacteria and reduce the risk of urinary tract infection.
5. Precautions
Mold accuracy: The mold of the liquid silicone injection molding machine needs to have high precision to ensure that the size and shape of the finished product meet the requirements.
Temperature control: The temperature needs to be strictly controlled during the molding process to ensure the curing and molding effect of the silicone.
Cleaning and disinfection: During the production and use process, the equipment and finished products need to be strictly cleaned and disinfected to ensure the sterility of the product.

In summary, the silicone molding process in the production of catheters is a complex and delicate process, and each link needs to be strictly controlled to ensure product quality. By selecting suitable raw materials, using advanced molding equipment and processes, performing special process treatments, and paying attention to relevant matters, high-quality silicone catheters can be produced to meet the different needs of patients.
