How to choose the mesh number suitable for screen printing of silicone adhesive for underwear?
Silicone characteristics
Particle size: If the particles of underwear adhesive silicone are large, in order to ensure that the silicone can pass through the mesh of the screen smoothly, a screen with a lower mesh number should be selected. For example, some silicones containing large filling particles may cause mesh blockage and affect the printing effect if a high-mesh screen is used. On the contrary, for silicones with fine particles and good fluidity, a higher mesh number screen can be selected to achieve more delicate printing.
Viscosity: Silicone with higher viscosity has greater resistance when passing through the screen, and a larger mesh is required to ensure its smooth transfer. Therefore, high-viscosity silicone is suitable for low-mesh screens. Low-viscosity silicone has good fluidity and can pass through smaller meshes. A higher mesh number screen can be used for printing to obtain a thinner and more uniform silicone layer.
Printing pattern
Fineness requirement: If the printed pattern contains fine lines, text or complex details, a high mesh screen is required to achieve accurate reproduction of the pattern. The high mesh screen has smaller mesh holes, which can make the silicone deposit more accurately in the specified area, improving the clarity and resolution of the pattern. For example, when printing brand logos or small decorative patterns on underwear, a 120-200 mesh screen is usually selected. For large-area printing with low pattern precision requirements, such as the entire decorative area of underwear, a lower mesh screen, such as 80-120 mesh, can be used to improve printing efficiency.
Pattern area: When printing a larger area of pattern, a low mesh screen can transfer silicone to the underwear faster and increase the printing speed. Because the mesh holes of the low mesh screen are larger, more silicone passes through per unit time. For small-area patterns, a high mesh screen can better control the distribution of silicone and avoid blurring of the pattern edges or silicone overflow.
Underwear material
Surface texture: The surface texture of underwear of different materials is different, which also affects the selection of screen mesh. For example, the surface of cotton underwear is relatively rough, and a certain amount of silicone is needed to fill the texture gap to achieve a good bonding effect. At this time, a lower mesh screen can be selected to allow more silicone to adhere to the surface of the underwear. For underwear materials with smooth surfaces such as silk and lace, in order to avoid excessive penetration or accumulation of silicone, a higher mesh screen should be selected to obtain a thinner silicone layer.
Thickness and elasticity: Thicker or more elastic underwear materials may deform during the printing process, affecting the accuracy of printing. In this case, the mesh count of the screen can be appropriately reduced to reduce the penetration depth of silicone, while increasing the thickness of the silicone layer to improve the bonding strength. For thinner underwear materials, a high mesh screen can provide a thinner and more uniform silicone layer to avoid affecting the comfort and appearance of the underwear.
