How to adjust the viscosity of silk screen high gloss cover silicone?
The viscosity of silk screen high gloss cover silicone has an important influence on the printing effect. Inappropriate viscosity will lead to uneven printing, bubbles and other problems. The following is a method to adjust its viscosity:
Add diluent according to the type of silicone
Solvent-based diluent: For solvent-based high gloss cover silicone, a special solvent-based diluent can be added to reduce the viscosity. Different silicone systems are suitable for different diluents. For example, silicone based on ketones and esters can use butanone, ethyl acetate, etc. as diluents. When adding, you need to follow the principle of small amounts and multiple times. After each addition, stir well and use a viscometer to measure the viscosity until it reaches the appropriate range. Generally speaking, the amount added each time is controlled at 1%-5% of the total amount of silicone.
Solvent-free diluent: If it is a solvent-free silicone, a matching solvent-free diluent should be used. This type of diluent is usually a low-viscosity resin or additive that can reduce the viscosity of the silicone without introducing a solvent, while ensuring that the performance of the silicone is not greatly affected. The addition ratio should also be adjusted according to the actual situation, generally around 5%-15%.
Control the influence of temperature
Tempering and reducing viscosity: The viscosity of silicone will decrease as the temperature rises. The viscosity can be adjusted by appropriate heating, but it is important to control the temperature range to avoid excessive temperature affecting the performance and curing effect of silicone. Generally, silicone can be heated to 30-50℃. In this temperature range, the molecular movement of silicone intensifies and the viscosity decreases. When heating, water bath heating or special heating equipment can be used, and a thermometer can be used to monitor the temperature in real time.
Cooling and increasing viscosity: If the viscosity of silicone is too low, the viscosity can be increased by lowering the temperature. Place the silicone in a low temperature environment, but be careful not to let the temperature be too low to prevent the silicone from solidifying or crystallizing. Generally, the temperature can be controlled at 10-20℃ to slow down the molecular movement of silicone, thereby increasing the viscosity.
