How the color deviation can be avoided?

In the printing process, color deviation can be avoided from many aspects. The following is a detailed introduction:
Preliminary preparation
Calibration equipment
Display: Regularly use professional display calibration tools, such as Datacolor Spyder, X-Rite i1Display, etc., to ensure that the colors displayed by the display are accurate and as close to the actual printed colors as possible.
Printers and printing presses: Calibrate the color mode, ink volume, pressure and other parameters of the printing press according to the guidance of the equipment manufacturer. You can also use the color calibration system that comes with the printing press, or adjust the equipment parameters by printing test samples and using a color analyzer.
Precise selection and preparation of materials
Ink: Select high-quality and stable inks, and strictly control their storage conditions to prevent the ink from deteriorating and changing color during storage. For example, inks should be stored in a cool and dry environment and avoid direct sunlight.
Paper: Different papers have different absorption and reflection characteristics of inks, which will affect the final printed color. Therefore, it is necessary to select the appropriate paper according to the printing needs and ensure that the paper's whiteness, glossiness, smoothness and other indicators are consistent.
Screen: Ensure the quality and precision of the screen, including the mesh count, tension, thickness and other parameters of the screen cloth meet the requirements. The exposure time and development time in the screen production process will also affect the clarity and color accuracy of the pattern and need to be strictly controlled.
Accurate color management
Color mode conversion: In the design and typesetting software, ensure that the color mode of the file is correct. Generally speaking, printing files should use the CMYK color mode to avoid frequent conversion between RGB and CMYK modes to avoid color deviation.
Establish color standards: Develop a set of unified color standards, such as using the international standard Pantone color card (Pantone), to ensure that the colors of the design draft, proofing draft and printed products can match it. During the design stage, the designer should accurately mark the Pantone number of the color so that the printer can accurately mix the ink.
Printing process control
Control the printing environment
Temperature and humidity: Keep the temperature and humidity of the printing workshop stable, generally the temperature is controlled at 20℃ - 25℃, and the humidity is controlled at 50% - 60%. Changes in temperature and humidity will affect the drying speed and fluidity of the ink, which will lead to color deviation.
Lighting conditions: Ensure that the lighting in the printing workshop is uniform and stable, and avoid strong light directly shining on the printed product. When checking the printed color, it should be done under a standard light source, such as D50 or D65 light source, to reduce the color judgment error caused by different lighting conditions.
Strictly control the balance of ink and water-ink
Ink mixing: Strictly mix the ink according to the formula and proportion, and use accurate measuring tools to ensure that the color of the ink mixed each time is consistent. During the mixing process, it is necessary to fully stir and evenly to avoid color difference.
Water-ink balance: For offset printing, it is necessary to maintain the balance of water and ink, that is, to control the pressure, water volume and ink volume of the water roller and the ink roller. Unbalanced water and ink will cause poor emulsification or drying of the ink, affecting the accuracy of the printed color.
Standardize printing operations
Pressure adjustment: Ensure that the pressure of the printing press is uniform and stable to avoid uneven ink transfer due to uneven pressure, thereby causing color deviation. Regularly check and adjust the pressure parameters of the printing press to ensure printing quality.
Printing speed: Keep the printing speed stable to avoid sudden speed changes. Variations in printing speed can affect the ink transfer and drying process, resulting in inconsistent colors.
