When high-gloss surface coating silicone is used for screen printing, the appropriate viscosity range needs to comprehensively consider factors such as screen mesh number, printing pattern fineness, printing equipment, etc. Generally speaking, its viscosity is more suitable for 30000-80000mPa・s:
Screen mesh number: If the screen mesh number used is high (such as above 200 mesh) and the mesh is fine, then a low-viscosity high-gloss cover silicone is suitable, which is about 30000-50000mPa・s. Lower viscosity can make the silicone pass through the fine mesh more smoothly, avoid clogging, and ensure smooth printing. For example, when printing fine patterns and using a high-mesh screen, a viscosity of about 35000mPa・s can make the silicone transfer evenly to the substrate, presenting a clear pattern. When the screen mesh number is low (such as below 120 mesh), the mesh is large, and the silicone is relatively easy to pass through the mesh. The viscosity of the silicone can be appropriately increased to between 50000-80000mPa・s. Higher viscosity helps control the flow range of silicone, prevents excessive diffusion of silicone during printing, and ensures clear edges of patterns. For example, a viscosity of 60000mPa・s can better maintain the shape of patterns during low-mesh screen printing.
Printing pattern fineness: For fine patterns and text printing, the flow of silicone needs to be more precisely controlled, so it is suitable to use high-gloss cover silicone with lower viscosity, usually 30000-50000mPa・s. This allows the silicone to better fill the fine mesh and clearly reproduce fine patterns. For printing with larger areas and less demanding edge precision requirements, such as large-area solid color block printing, a slightly higher viscosity silicone can be used, between 50000-80000mPa・s, to improve printing efficiency and better maintain thickness and three-dimensionality after printing.
Printing equipment: If it is manual screen printing, since the control of operating force and speed is relatively unstable, it is suitable to use high-gloss cover silicone with a slightly higher viscosity, 50000-80000mPa・s, so that the operator can control the amount of silicone and printing effect. When using an automatic screen printer for printing, the machine can provide more stable pressure and speed, and silicone with a lower viscosity, 30000-50000mPa・s, can be used to improve printing speed and production efficiency.
