How long does it take for foaming silicone to complete foaming after screen printing?
The time it takes for foaming silicone to complete foaming after screen printing is mainly affected by the following factors:
Temperature conditions: Temperature is a key factor affecting the foaming time. At higher temperatures, the molecular movement inside the foaming silicone intensifies and the chemical reaction rate accelerates, so that the foaming can be completed quickly. For example, when the temperature is set at 150-180℃, the foaming process may only take 5-10 minutes to complete. However, if the temperature is reduced to 130-150℃, the foaming time will be extended to 10-15 minutes accordingly. This is because the lower the temperature, the lower the molecular activity, the slower the chemical reaction rate, and more time is needed to complete the reaction required for foaming.
Silicone type and formula: Different brands and models of foaming silicone have different foaming characteristics due to differences in their basic formulas and additives. Some fast-foaming silicones may complete foaming in about 5 minutes at the right temperature; while some formulas designed to meet special process requirements, such as higher foaming uniformity or finer cell structure, may take relatively long to foam, which may take 10-15 minutes at standard temperature.
Coating thickness: The thickness of the foaming silicone coating printed on clothing or other materials has a significant impact on the foaming time. Thicker coatings require more time for heat to transfer to the inside to complete the overall foaming reaction. For example, when the coating thickness is 0.5 mm, it may complete foaming within 10 minutes; but when the coating thickness increases to 1 mm, the foaming time may be extended to 15-20 minutes because the thicker coating requires more time to complete the internal chemical reaction.
Equipment and environment: Different heating equipment, such as ovens, tunnel furnaces, etc., have different internal temperature uniformity and heating efficiency, which will affect the foaming time. In addition, the humidity and ventilation conditions of the environment will also have a certain impact. In an environment with high humidity, moisture may affect the foaming reaction of silicone, resulting in prolonged foaming time or poor foaming effect; good ventilation helps to discharge the gas generated during the foaming process in time, making the foaming process smoother and shortening the foaming time to a certain extent.
