Silk screens are available in white, yellow, amber, red, etc. The color of the silk screen has a great influence on the quality of stencil making. Colored silk screens, such as yellow, red, and amber silk screens, can prevent the diffusion of light when the stencil is exposed, while the use of white silk screens will cause obvious diffusion. This is because the photosensitive material has a large absorption peak in the ultraviolet region. Since the white silk screen reflects white light when the light source is irradiated, it has an impact on the photosensitive material. The irradiated light passes through the transparent part of the positive film to reach the emulsion coating. When the irradiated light contacts the white silk screen, it is reflected, refracted, reflected, and diffusely reflected, causing the printing plate to appear floating, that is, haloing. If a colored silk screen is used, this phenomenon will be prevented because the colored silk screen can absorb part of the irradiated light, thereby reducing the reflection intensity of the irradiated light, and the colored silk screen reflects colored light, which is inactive light, so it will not affect the sensitive material. Especially when printing fine printed products, the color of the silk screen is particularly important.
How does the color of the screen affect stencil making?
