Curing treatment of Teflon spray mold
Drying and curing: Put the sprayed mold into the oven and set the curing curve according to the coating manual (different models have different temperatures and times), for example:
Water-based Teflon: Usually dry at 80-120℃ for 30 minutes, then heat to 380-400℃ for curing for 15-30 minutes;
Solvent-based Teflon: It may be necessary to heat up in stages (such as 100℃→200℃→380℃), and the total curing time is about 1-2 hours.
Note: The curing temperature must be strictly controlled. Too low will cause the coating to not be completely cross-linked (poor adhesion), and too high may cause Teflon to decompose (lose performance); keep the oven ventilated during the curing process to discharge volatiles.
IV. Post-processing and inspection
Cooling and finishing: After the mold is taken out of the oven, it is naturally cooled to room temperature (to avoid cracking of the coating caused by sudden cooling). Check whether the coating has defects such as pinholes, bubbles, and sagging. Minor defects can be partially re-sprayed and then cured again. Severe defects require paint removal and re-processing.
Performance test: Verify the coating quality through adhesion test (cross-cut method, ISO 2409 standard), thickness test (coating thickness gauge, ensure total thickness 50-100μm), and anti-stick test (such as demoulding force detection).
5. Precautions
Teflon coating contains fluoride. When spraying, it must be operated in a fume hood or a closed spray room. Wear a gas mask (filter element for filtering organic vapor) to avoid inhalation.
The mold material must be resistant to high temperature (curing temperature is usually above 300℃), and plastic molds are not suitable for this process.
Before re-spraying the old mold, it is necessary to use a special paint stripper to remove the old coating, and then process it according to the new mold process.
Correct operation can make the Teflon coating have a service life of tens of thousands of demoulding times. The maintenance cycle is adjusted according to the frequency of mold use and working conditions.
