Common problems and solutions for silicone pigments
Uneven color:
Cause analysis: It may be that the color paste is not completely and evenly dispersed in the silicone due to insufficient stirring; or the viscosity of the silicone itself is high, which affects the dispersion effect of the color paste; or it may be a quality problem of the color paste, the pigment particles are large and difficult to disperse.
Solution: Extend the stirring time, use appropriate stirring equipment and higher stirring speed for full stirring; if it is a problem with the viscosity of the silicone, you can heat the silicone appropriately or add an appropriate amount of diluent to reduce the viscosity before stirring; replace the color paste product with reliable quality and good dispersion.
Color fading or discoloration:
Cause analysis: It may be that the color paste has poor weather resistance and is affected by environmental factors such as light, high temperature, and chemicals during use; or the use environment of the silicone product does not meet the tolerance range of the color paste, such as being in a strong acid and alkali environment for a long time.
Solution: Choose high-quality color paste products with good weather resistance, and check its weather resistance test report and other relevant information; try to avoid exposing silicone products to harsh environments that exceed the tolerance range of the color paste. If it cannot be avoided, choose special color pastes that are suitable for special environments.
Pigment migration:
Cause analysis: The pigment in the color paste is not tightly bound to the silicone, and it is easy to migrate under certain conditions; or the silicone product is exposed to some organic solvents and other substances during storage and use, which causes the pigment to migrate.
Solution: Choose a color paste product with appropriate additives to enhance the binding force between the pigment and the silicone; control the storage and use environment of silicone products to avoid contact with substances that may cause pigment migration, such as avoiding long-term contact with items containing oils and organic solvents.
