If the screen printing silicone is not used up, can it be stored in the refrigerator for next use?

Single-component screen printing silicone
Theoretically feasible: Single-component screen printing silicone usually solidifies by contact with moisture in the air. If it is unopened and stored in good conditions, its shelf life is relatively long. If it has been opened and used but there is still some left, seal it and put it in the refrigerator (generally at a temperature of about 2-8℃), which can slow down its contact with external moisture to a certain extent, thereby delaying the curing process. In theory, it can be taken out and used again next time in a short period of time.

There are actual limitations: However, even if it is placed in the refrigerator, it may still slowly solidify or change in performance over time, such as increased viscosity and worsening of the effect after curing. Moreover, if it is taken out of the refrigerator and used and then put back repeatedly, the temperature change will easily cause water vapor condensation inside and outside the package, which will accelerate its curing or affect its stability. Therefore, it is generally recommended to use it up as soon as possible. Even if it is stored in the refrigerator, it is best to do a small-scale test before the next use to see if the ideal screen printing effect can still be achieved.

Two-component silk-screen silicone
Not suitable in some cases: Two-component silk-screen silicone relies on the chemical reaction of components A and B mixed in proportion to solidify. Once the unused silicone after mixing components A and B is stored in the refrigerator, the curing reaction inside will continue, but the low temperature may slow down the reaction speed slightly, but it will eventually solidify and cannot be used again, so the remaining silicone after mixing usually cannot be used next time.

Unmixed components are OK: However, if components A and B are not mixed, it is OK to seal them separately and store them in the refrigerator. The low temperature environment of the refrigerator helps maintain its chemical stability and extend the shelf life. The next time you use it, take it out and mix it in the correct proportion and it can be used for silk-screen printing normally. However, you should also pay attention to avoid problems such as water vapor caused by temperature changes that affect the quality of the components.
