Silk-screen silicone color paste and glue color paste are usually not interchangeable. There are significant differences in composition, use, process adaptability and performance requirements between the two. It is necessary to select the appropriate product according to the specific application scenario. The following is a specific analysis:
Differences in composition and use
Silk-screen silicone color paste is designed for silicone materials and needs to be compatible with silicone substrates to ensure that no toxic components (such as sulfur, amines, etc.) are produced during the vulcanization process, while meeting the requirements of high temperature resistance and weather resistance. Its typical applications include screen printing of silicone products and trademark logos.
Glue color paste is mostly used for printing of textiles, leather and other materials. The colorant is attached to the surface of the fabric through the glue carrier to form a three-dimensional pattern or local dyeing effect. Its composition needs to adapt to the viscosity, solid content and other characteristics of the glue, and is incompatible with the silicone system.
Process adaptability
Silk-screen silicone color paste needs to be mixed with silicone through the screen printing process, and the color paste is required to have excellent dispersibility and fluidity to ensure the clarity and adhesion of the printed pattern. For example, component A (colloid + color paste) and component B (curing agent) in silicone screen printing glue need to be mixed in strict proportion. If the color paste ratio exceeds 15%, it will affect the bonding performance.
Glue color paste realizes color transfer through the viscosity of glue. The process focuses on the bonding strength between glue and fabric, rather than compatibility with silicone.
Conflict of performance requirements
Silicone color paste must meet the characteristics of high temperature resistance (such as 280-400℃), UV resistance (4-8 levels), chemical corrosion resistance, etc., to adapt to the long-term use environment of silicone products.
Glue color paste pays more attention to color fastness, softness and environmental protection (such as passing OEKO-TEX certification), and its performance indicators are not directly related to the silicone system.
General risk
If glue color paste is used for silicone printing, it may lead to vulcanization failure, color migration or product performance degradation; on the contrary, silicone color paste used for textile printing may cause network blocking due to excessive viscosity, or cause color material to fall off due to incompatible ingredients.
