Can high-frequency embossing machines be used to press and cure liquid silicone?
High-frequency embossing machines are not suitable for pressing and curing liquid silicone. The reasons are as follows:
Material properties do not match: High-frequency embossing machines are mainly suitable for pure PVC, EVA, TPU, PET and other plastics and plastic materials, as well as any soft and hard rubber materials containing more than 20% PVC, as well as leather or cloth. Under the action of high-frequency electromagnetic fields, the internal molecules of these materials can quickly polarize and generate heat through friction, achieving the effects of welding and embossing. Liquid silicone belongs to silicone rubber materials, and its molecular structure and physical properties are different from those of the above materials. It will not produce the same polarized friction heat reaction under high-frequency electric fields, and it is difficult to achieve curing through high-frequency methods.
Differences in curing principles: High-frequency embossing machines use high-frequency electromagnetic waves to make the internal molecules of the material move and generate heat to achieve processing. Liquid silicone is usually cured by adding initiators such as vulcanizers, chemical reactions under certain temperature and time conditions to achieve cross-linking and curing, or by heating to evaporate the water in the silicone, cross-linking the polymer chains and other physical and chemical processes to complete the curing, which is different from the heating principle of high-frequency. If a high-frequency embossing machine is used to process liquid silicone, it may not provide the conditions required for liquid silicone curing, resulting in the silicone being unable to be effectively cured, or the curing being uneven and the effect being poor.
