Baking Temperatures for Silicone Screen Printing

The baking temperature for silicone screen printing depends on the specific type of silicone, the screen printing materials, and the required curing effect. Below is a detailed analysis:

1. Garment Screen Printing Silicone

Material Type: Garment screen printing silicone is a two-component silicone rubber, requiring the mixing of components A and B for use.

Baking Temperature: This type of silicone rubber typically requires baking at temperatures of 120–160°C.

Curing Time: After printing, it can naturally surface-dry within 6–10 minutes without baking. However, for rapid curing or to ensure optimal curing, baking is still recommended.

2. Room-Temperature Curing Silicone for Screen Printing

Material Characteristics: This type can cure both at elevated temperatures and room temperature, with excellent high-temperature baking resistance.

Baking Temperature and Curing Time:

At room temperature (25°C), full curing generally takes about 6 hours, depending on local temperature and humidity.

Some specially formulated room-temperature curing silicone, with a ratio of 10:2 or 10:3 (component A to component B), can cure in as little as 2 hours at room temperature.

3. Quick-Dry Silicone for Heated Baking

Material Characteristics: This type does not cure at room temperature for up to a day but cures rapidly when heated.

Baking Temperature: When heated to above 100°C, it can fully cure within seconds.

4. Low-Temperature Silicone Ink

Material Type: A high-tech product designed to meet halogen content standards under environmental quality management systems.

Baking Temperature: This ink dries completely in 5–6 minutes at temperatures between 80–120°C. It addresses issues such as high-temperature discoloration in screen printing and allows for screen printing and spray processing on products that bond silicone with plastic.

5. Additional Considerations

Screen Selection: Choose a screen with an appropriate mesh count, typically between 80–120 mesh, for silicone screen printing.

Baking Equipment: Select baking equipment based on specific temperature and curing time requirements, such as infrared baking machines or vertical ovens.

Operating Environment: Ensure a clean and well-ventilated workspace during baking to prevent dust and odors from affecting the screen printing results.
