AS5051 is a member of our General Purpose molding HTV (High-Temperature Vulcanization) Silicone Rubber range, specifically designed for various molding processes including extrusion, transfer, compression molding, and calendering. It is characterized by its precipitation heat vulcanized nature, making it suitable for a diverse range of applications.
Extrusion:
Extrusion is a continuous manufacturing process where silicone rubber is propelled through a die and subsequently vulcanized. This method utilizes a conveying screw to apply pressure, homogenize the material, and shape the extrudate. AS5051 can be extruded into various forms such as tubing, profiles, cables, flat tapes, and round cords.
Compression and Transfer Molding:
Compression and transfer molding techniques are employed to cure AS5051 in molds using heat and pressure. These methods are favored for solid silicone rubber applications due to their effectiveness. They ensure precise shaping and uniform properties in the final product.
Textile Coating / Calendering:
Molding HTV Silicone Rubber can be applied using standard textile coating methods, with calendering being the most common approach for solid silicones. Coating equipment utilized for silicones can also be adapted for processing other coating compounds like PVC, PU, and acrylates after proper cleaning.
