How many types of silicone curing agents?
There are many types of silicone curing agents, each with its own unique characteristics and application areas. Here are some common types of silicone curing agents:
1. Acidic curing agent
Definition: This is the earliest silicone curing agent developed and used.
Ingredients: Common ones include anhydrides, acid esters, acid oxides, etc.
Characteristics: The reaction speed is slow at room temperature and needs to be catalyzed at high temperature. There are fewer by-products produced by the reaction with silicone and the price is low.
Application: Widely used in the preparation of silicone rubber, silicone resin, silicone oil and other products.
2. Peroxide curing agent
Definition: This is a new type of silicone curing agent.
Ingredients: Common peroxides include methyl vinyl methyl phenyl peroxide, p-cresol oxide, etc.
Characteristics: It has the characteristics of fast curing speed, few reaction by-products and good heat resistance.
Application: Mainly used in the preparation of high-temperature silicone rubber, coatings, sealants and other products.
3. Alkylating curing agent
Definition: This is a silicone curing agent with high reactivity.
Ingredients: Common ones include methyl silane, phenyl silane, vinyl silane, etc.
Characteristics: Due to the high reactivity, the reaction usually needs to be completed in a relatively short time to avoid irreversible cross-linking.
Application: Mainly used in heat-resistant silicone rubber, coatings, adhesives and other fields.
4. Platinum curing agent
Definition: This is also a new type of silicone curing agent.
Ingredients: The main ingredients are platinum-containing alkyl compounds, such as dihydrogen silyl methyl phenyl platinum, catalyst 1, etc.
Characteristics: It has the advantages of high reactivity, few reaction by-products and fast curing speed.
Application: It is mainly used in high-performance silicone rubber, high-transparency silicone, high-hardness silicone and other fields.
5. Vulcanized silicone rubber curing agent
Definition: This is a traditional type of curing agent.
Ingredients: Vulcanizing agents such as disulfide are usually used for hardening reactions.
6. Heating silicone rubber curing agent
Definition: This curing agent initiates a reaction under heat to cure silicone.
Ingredients: It is often based on substances such as hydrogen peroxide and calcium.
7. Photoinduced silicone rubber curing agent
Definition: This curing agent uses ultraviolet or electron beam radiation to cure silicone.
Characteristics: It has good selectivity and reactivity.
8. New silicone curing agent
XR-500 crosslinker: an epoxy silane type crosslinker, mainly suitable for water-based systems containing carboxyl, amino, and hydroxyl groups. The epoxy group in the crosslinker reacts with the hydrophilic group of the water-based resin, and the alkoxy group undergoes hydrolysis and condensation reaction with water to form a silicon-oxygen bond, thereby greatly improving the adhesion of the coating to the substrate and water resistance. This crosslinker is environmentally friendly and non-toxic, and has a long application period of up to one year at room temperature.
